MOON WALKERS

The mighty spaceship was flying through the ever changing background of the bus window while my first pocket money was already gone.

Out of the blue another pale brown monolith crossed the outer space.
The spacecrafts collided crumbling crunchy chunks all over the bus seat.

The interstellar battle was at its peak when the first spaceship engine suddenly disappeared into a massive black hole. Into my mouth a big bang of taste exploded and my papilla seized up for few seconds. Buttery steroids struck my palate while an ecstatic smile appeared across my child face. The black hole widened straightaway swallowing the sweet and salty shuttle cookies.

By the time the bus covered the distance between the shopping mall and my house the entire Shortbread universe had collapsed into my mouth. Simple perfection. Eight biscuits in eight minutes. Love at first taste.

The little walkers lover with cosmic fantasies is now a successful chef who makes of wholesomeness his most treasured ingredient. Herewith a small tribute to walkers: two recipes dedicated to a playful sensation from days gone by that Walkers revives to relight sweet memories and fulfill this very day.

SMOKY BREAD

Oolong & Whisky Hot Tea Soaked Shortbread, With Cinnamon & Cocoa Flavored Cream

Ingredients:

  • 4 Walkers Shortbread, cut in three
  • 1 cup of whipped whole cream
  • 1 coffee spoon of cinnamon
  • 1 coffee spoon of cocoa
  • 2 cups of Hot Oolong Tea with:
  • 1 coffee spoon of sugar
  • 2 table spoons of Laphroaig, 10 years old, Whisky
  • 4 tea glass cups with 4 tea spoons

lay 3 shortbread pieces in each tea cup and cover with the hot tea until the top of the pieces put the cups into the microwave for 60 seconds (high power setting) take off the cups and cover immediately with cold whipped cream (using a piping bag) a quick dusting of cocoa and cinnamon mix serve them at once.

CHUNKY CIOK

Cool Chocolate Ice Cream Filled Cookies, With Raspberries & Crashed Pistachios

Ingredients:

  • 8 Walkers Chocolate Cookies
  • 1 cup of chocolate ice cream
  • 4 big raspberries
  • 1 cup of crashed (not salted) pistachios
  • 1 cup of raspberries blended with:
  • 1 table spoon of sugar
  • 1 table spoon of lemon juice

lay 4 cookies on a flat dish, put some ice cream (not too frozen) on each one and a raspberry in the middle of them cover with the others 4 cookies and, using a little spatula, finish off the filled cookies and then, cover the ice cream side with crashed pistachios keep the filled cookies in the freezer and take them off 2 minutes before serving with the raspberry topping aside.
